Trying to decide if 2022 is the right year to make a career move? Here are four reasons why it might be a GREAT year for a transition to your dream job in sales:
1. Companies have already worked through the challenges of the COVID pandemic.
Going into the third year of the pandemic, many companies and leaders have settled into their new sales reality. The change and uncertainty experienced during the first two years is in the past, and sales organizations are moving forward and scaling their teams. Leaders have perfected virtual hiring, training and management strategies, and now it’s go-time. In fact, 1 in 2 tech employers plan to add new jobs this year. CNBC called tech sales one of the ten fastest growing jobs in the United States this year.
2. Remote positions are here to stay.
Some companies will transition back to on-site or hybrid roles, but most will not. Hubspot predicts that on-site presentations will become a thing of the past this year. Why? Because excellent sales professionals have realized that they can work wherever they want, be incredibly productive, make great money and most importantly, live a happy life. Companies who insist on hiring on-site sales teams will simply lose out on great talent. It’s really that simple.
3. Sales tools are better than ever.
New sales tools are constantly being developed, and in 2022, we’ll see more companies investing in tools that will improve sales. According to one LinkedIn survey, 74% of respondents said their organizations plan to invest more in sales intelligence tools in the near future. 2022 will see new tools like surveys to identify new prospects quickly, stronger video tools, sales analytics, and better CRM systems. That’s important, because according to LinkedIn’s State of Sales 2021, 68% of respondents said their CRM system was “very important” to closing deals.
The bottom line? The better your sales tools, the better your chance of success.
4. The Great Resignation means it’s a candidate’s market.
The United States has been experiencing an interesting phenomenon over the last couple quarters: The Great Resignation. 47 million employees resigned in 2021 to focus on quality of life, and 65% of GenZers plan to leave their jobs this year. One person is hired every 15 seconds right now on LinkedIn. This has created a tremendous hiring shortage, and it’s a candidate’s market. Candidates have more career choices now than ever, and they can work wherever they want.
If you’re looking for your next career move, now is a great time to explore your options. Good sales professionals can expect top dollar in this highly competitive market.
